For 15 years OBASHI Limited has helped businesses map their assets and data flows.
We have helped clients in Oil & Gas, Formula 1, Banking, Government and Policing understand how their businesses work by mapping their assets and digital flows using our professionally accredited OBASHI Methodology. Currently OBASHI are advisors to the G20/FSB on global banking reform with the new Global Legal Entity Identifier System. Using our unique software technology, we create clarity by modelling how business & IT assets are related to and dependent on each other. We enable you to see the “Big Picture” of how your business works, and “join the dots” to show how data flows between your people, processes and technology.
We are the global experts in The OBASHI Methodology – we literally wrote the book on it.
Our consultancy services include: business and technology asset mapping, high-level business scoping, operations and governance policy development, change control procedure development, forensic and security modeling, risk analysis and reporting.
As the authors of The OBASHI Methodology, and in conjunction with APMG’s Accredited Training Organisations (ATOs), we provide a broad range of expert training services and training programme development. OBASHI Methodology training is now globally available through ATOs in 20 countries as well as online.
Our scalable OBASHI software can be purchased in Single User, Group and Enterprise versions. It automates the methodology and allows you to model and produce financial and technical reports on how your business works. By performing Impact Analysis you can simulate the effect of asset failure on your business.

OBASHI is providing the Quality and Integrity for management of change.
Within F1, embedded into the Change Control process, every ICT modification is evaluated in a business context before a decision is made to implement the change.
What have we got?” A key question to consider when business change is needed.
Being able to capture and portray your assets and their relationships is critical when defining the scope of a programme or project.
OBASHI creates the ‘Big Picture’ of the relationships between your assets in a business context – clear evidence of the current state of your business.
This enables proposed future states to be modelled and analysed saving time, money and risk.
OBASHI Business & IT diagrams (B&ITs) are easily understood and analysed by both business and technical people, allowing decisions to be made quickly and with confidence.
B&ITs create a base-line for internal and external communication and negotiations.
OBASHI helps you meet your security compliance goals.
Uniquely, OBASHI’s Dataflow Analysis Views show you the touch points of a flow of data as it flows through the business.
You clearly see which assets are most critical to maintaining the flow and which assets may be vulnerable to attack.
OBASHI offers clients a governance framework that enables a solid security model to be visualised and tested.
Project Management – Capture and Model
Most projects involve people, business processes and technology assets. Working out how the assets relate to each other and the impact of change on any of them is the biggest challenge.
OBASHI can bring clarity to projects that involve relationships between these critical component parts.
We are expert in identifying sources of data, performing interviews with stakeholders and in assessing and then disseminating the data that has been gathered into meaningful and useful project documentation.
OBASHI seamlessly dovetails with existing project management methodologies. The OBASHI Project Lifecycle is a well-defined set of project phases that can be applied to execute a project using the OBASHI Methodology. The OBASHI Project Lifecycle encompasses Scope, Capture, Design, Refine and Handover phases of a project. OBASHI seamlessly dovetails with existing project management methodologies such as PRINCE2.
OBASHI can help you accelerate the project through its capture and modelling processes.
From this capture and modelling of the current state we facilitate front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies, through detailed engineering and procurement, to project and build management.
We conduct this process thoroughly and intelligently.
We know what works and what doesn’t, and understand the relative merits of different system and process designs and their inter-relationships.
Operational & Governance Assurance
OBASHI’s expert professionals are equipped with practical hands-on OBASHI expertise and wide-ranging knowledge of business and supporting ICT systems, equipment and other assets.
We can provide an OBASHI compliance and governance framework to help you ensure that your projects meet your Integrity, Quality Control and Compliance standards.
The framework may include: Data capture & document management, Element / Artifact naming conventions, Asset and Infrastructure management, Help Desk and IT Service Management, Change Control process development, Quality Assurance & Control procedures, Data Quality Assurance, Security Controls and Report development.
Data Flow Assurance
Today, flows of data are as critical to businesses as flows of electricity, gas and water. IT exists for one reason – to support the flow of data.
OBASHI helps you optimise your assets, networks and facilities to keep data flowing smoothly.
We provide conceptual, front-end engineering design and detailed modelling for data flow assurance and analysis from a business perspective.
We have modelled data flows for leading organisations by combining their industry standard software’s data sources with our OBASHI software. We assess key business metrics, identifying critical fail points, security gaps, project prioritisation and process improvement.
OBASHI offers a fully accredited training programme. Our courses lead delegates from introduction through final exams to gain professional qualification. OBASHI recognises the need for robust, effective training and competency programmes as a means to improve the skills and knowledge of employees. As such, all OBASHI qualifications are accredited by APMG. APMG have been the UK Government’s sole licensee for their Best Management Practice products such as ITIL, PRINCE 2, MSP and P3O. To date they have issued over 2.7m qualifications on behalf of the UK Government.
Through a worldwide network of Accredited Training Organisations, we can offer trainers, training materials, syllabuses, and courses that meet our defined standards in over 20 countries.
It allows you to build and manage B&IT diagrams from your own individual repository. Dragging and dropping elements onto your B&IT diagram automatically populates your repository. By building the diagram the software’s modelling engine takes care of tracking the relationships by applying the OBASHI rules. It even stops you breaking them too, although to get the best out of the software we recommend you read The OBASHI Methodology book so you understand how the models work.
The software tool is smart, easy to understand and easy to use. If you follow the rules properly you will be a master B&IT builder before you can say … erm … “Create business clarity.”
